Hemorrhoids and Pregnancy
Hemorrhoids may emerge for the first time on a woman during the pregnancy period, and it’s due to the increased quantity of blood circulating in the body causing the veins to swell, fluctuating hormonal levels, and constant constipation. The growing uterus puts additional pressure on the veins that support the pelvis, living as a result the formation of hemorrhoids. When the blood circulation returns from the lower half of the body it slows down, increasing in this way the pressure on the veins below the uterus and in turn causing them to be swollen or dilated.
An additional effect of pregnancy is the augment in progesterone levels in the body, which may be responsible for relaxing the cellular walls of the veins, causing in this way an improperly function and collapsing of veins, ultimately leading to hemorrhoids.
Also, constipation is one of the common conditions of pregnancy in general, making it hard for them to move Bowles. Constant straining caused by constipation may lead to hemorrhoids too.
The best way to prevent hemorrhoids for pregnant women, is to have a healthy and high-fiber diet drink plenty of water and to get regular exercise (that is recommended safe for pregnant women). As always, it is still best to consult your physician.
